Continuing our Sustainable Growth Leadership Series, this week, we hear from Imogen Armstrong. Imogen and her sister Isobel are the proud owners and operators of the Secret Garden Distillery in Edinburgh. Their distillery produces a diverse range of exceptional and distinctive gins, all inspired by and crafted from botanicals grown in their expansive 7-acre garden. They chose this path with the shared vision of creating a high-quality Natural Scottish Gin in a thriving industry they are passionate about.

One of our primary goals is to collaborate with like-minded partners who share our values, so attending the sustainability zone at the Scottish Trade Spring Fair last month was the perfect opportunity to connect with other great, sustainable brands. It was also an excellent chance to engage with consumers, share our ideas, and hear their feedback over the course of a few days.

A big shout-out to Think Partnership for the incredible work they did in facilitating conversations between businesses and consumers.
It was inspiring to see how many people approached us. After hearing our story, their engagement with our products became much more meaningful and personal.

Key Takeaways:
1. The Power of Storytelling: Sharing our stories with each other and with consumers is essential. You never know what might spark inspiration or what ideas you can take back to improve your own work.
2. Sustainability Sells: Consumers are actively looking for products with a purpose—those that come with stories rooted in sustainability. They want brands that measure their impact and strive to reduce it, all while offering transparency. This aligns perfectly with our core sustainability mission.
3. Investing in the Future: Growth can’t happen without a sustainable, resilient foundation. Every decision we make must keep sustainability at the forefront. We all have a responsibility to reflect on our actions and continuously improve our impact on the world.

For us, sustainability goes beyond cutting emissions, targeting net zero, and limiting environmental impact—although these are undeniably important. It’s also about how we treat our workers, who we partner with, and how we contribute to the community around us.
Since the very beginning, I’ve championed our sustainability initiative, ensuring that it is integrated into every step of our business—from conception to delivery. Being part of the sustainability zone was a wonderful opportunity to see that goal in action, to connect with others who are equally passionate about creating a positive impact, and to feel that sense of community within the sustainability movement.
Thank you for the opportunity to share our story.
