Sustainability story
Glencroft is a family business established in 1987 in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. We produce a range of country clothing and homewares all from sheep - wool, tweed and sheepskin.
Sustainability is deeply ingrained in our business. Over 90% of our production happens in the UK, and we prioritize natural, local materials, using only 100% British Wool in our jumpers. We recently switched our hat linings to organic cotton and developed the first British Wool certified wool insole.
In 2021, we launched Clapdale Wool, our most ambitious project sourcing wool from seven farms within 10 miles of our Yorkshire warehouse.
We pay farmers at least £1 per kg, significantly above the auction average, and process wool into yarn and garments within a 100-mile radius of the sheep. We then share 10% of our profits with the farmers. We believe this is the future of sustainable clothing.
